THE RUPEE: parity almost stays put

The rates versus dollar were almost unchanged on the currency market on Tuesday in process of trading, dealers said. The rupee depicted no change against dollar for buying at 85.52 while it inched up by one paisa for selling at 85.55, they said.
Indian rupee was at Rs 44.99 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit was trading at 3.0460 in relation to the US currency and Chinese yuan was available at 6.5768 in terms of the greenback.

According to dealers, the dollar was traded at overnight rates of Rs 85.45 and Rs 85.65 for buying and selling, respectively.
The rupee improved against British pound, which was purchased and sold at Rs 137.30 and Rs 138.00 as compared to Monday's Rs 137.50 and Rs 138.50, respectively, dealers said.
The dollar opened at Rs 85.95 (buying) and Rs 86.20 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.95 (buying) and Rs 86.20 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 136.35 (buying) and Rs 136.75 (selling) against the previous rate. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 136.35 (buying) and Rs 136.75 (selling).
