Former-shuttler Tariq Shaheed dies

Former Pakistan Badminton player Tariq Shaheed died here on Sunday morning after heart attack. He was 48 and left behind three daughters, one son and a widow to mourn his death.
Former Pakistan national number two doubles player, Tariq was younger brother of Pakistan's top badminton star Hasan Shaheed, who was member of Pakistan team, which finished third in World Badminton Championship held in China in 1979.
The body of Tariq Shaheed is being flown to Faisalabad and he will be buried in Toba Tek Singh on Monday, family sources said.
Tariq Shaheed, who was also Manager of NBP Badminton team and played a vital role in developing bank's men and women team. Tariq represented Pakistan during the Goodwill tour to Russia in early nineties.
"He (Tariq) was dedicated officer, who served bank's sports division for nearly a quarter of century," In-charge NBP Sports Division Iqbal Qasim said.
In the meantime Pakistan Badminton Federation and Sindh Badminton Association officials have expressed their heartfelt condolence on the demise of Tariq Shaheed. They prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant fortitude to the bereaved family.
