Speedy redressal of complaints: 'Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat to be further strengthened'
Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat has decided to further strengthen its workings aiming at speedy redressal of genuine public complaints against public sector institutions, ensure good governance and reduce complaints.
The Mohtasib Institution initiatives are in line with the overall policy of the government and Prime Minister's directives aims at establishment of good governance at the level of government institutions", Mansoor Sohail Secretary Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat (Federal Ombudsmen Secretariat) said here on Sunday.
He said that soon he will be holding meetings with various federal government institutions to seek their support for achieving the objectives of good governance and speedy relief to the people. He claimed that Mohtasib secretariat is receiving an average of 100 complaints daily while the dispose off rate is 82 percent which has also enhanced the confidence of the people on the institution.
"Mohtasib Secretariat is playing the role of administrative court to provide justice to the commonman people, free of cost", Mansoor Sohail said while highlighting the performance of the his secretariat. He said that Mohtasib decisions and recommendations are binding on all public sector institutions for implementation.
Sohail further said that it was being ensured that the process of complaints being carried out in a transparent and efficient manner. The Secretary Wafaqi Mohtasib quoting a letter of a complainant said that "Wafaqi Mohtasib office is a ray of hope for poor people in this materialistic world".
He said that Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat received 37,364 complaint from across the country in the year 2010 out of which 32,402 were admitted. He added that within three months 19,267 complained were disposed off while rate of implementation of the recommendations was 82 percent. Sohail further said that complaints received against public sector institutions were Wapda, SNGPL, Erra, Nadra, AIOU, KESC, water and power division and Pakistan Post.
