The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced discontinuation of the practice of prior permission/no objection certificate (NOC) by the administrative department of photography at museums/archaeological sites. The decision has been taken in light of the current drive by the archaeology department to uplift conditions of Peshawar Museum and attract enthusiasts to the museum and archaeological sites in the province.
Moreover, all type of fee on photography, video making, documentaries for personal or commercial use, including museums entry fee for students have been waived off for a period of one year. This decision has been made in view of the precarious conditions created by militancy and terrorism, attract domestic and international tourists and promote archaeology in KP.
Concerned curator/in-charge will facilitate permission for still and video photography for which individual/firm will fill and sign a prescribed affidavit. Similarly, curator Peshawar museum has been directed to open 'Peshawar Museum Donation Account' in a scheduled bank to accept donations as and when received. Any amount received would be spent on upkeep/improvement of the museum. The account would be supervised by a committee headed by secretary archaeology department and comprising director archaeology curator Peshawar Museum, representative of finance department and two reputed members from the civil society.
