Javed Shafi elected senior vice president PIC

The elections of Patient Welfare Society, Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) for the period 2011-13 were held on Saturday wherein 73.3 percent members used their right to vote. Dr Abdul Hameed performed duties of election commissioner on the occasion.
On the occasion, Javed Shafi was elected Senior Vice President by securing 39 votes while his opponent candidate Waqar Ahmad Mian secured five votes, Ameen-ud-Din was elected Vice President by getting 40 votes while his opponent Atta-ur-Rehman got four votes. Dr Muhammad Ameer was elected Secretary Information by getting 42 votes while his opponent Sheikh Muhammad Ameen got only two votes. Zafar Ali Sheikh, Muhammad Yasir were elected Finance and Joint Secretary respectively securing 40 votes each.
Chaudhry Muhammad Hussan, Chaudhry Zafar Ali, Dr Aftab Ahmad Tariq, Dr Hamid Mahmood, Dr Javed Iqbal, Dr Muhammad Saleem Khan, Dr Syed Ali Hassan, Dr Zaigham Shah, Imran Khan, Colonel (Retd) Liaqat Ali, Babar Mahmood Butt, Mohsan Javed, Mst. Munawar Sultana, Rana Tariq Mahmood, Sheikh Mohi-ud- Din, Sultan Ali, Tariq Mahmood and Syed Ali Ehsan elected executive committee members of the institute.
Dr Muhammad Jafer Saleem and Ms Anila Asghar have already been elected unopposed as President and General Secretary of PIC respectively. Professor Dr Jawad Sajid Khan, Professor Dr Muhammad Azhar (PIC head) and Chairman BOM General Muhammad Tariq (Retd) have congratulated the newly elected office bearers and hoped that all members would work for the welfare of the ailing humanity and provision of better health care services.
