Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mir Israrullah Zehri has said that recent rains across the country would positively impact wheat production. "The wheat sowing rain-fed area has increased by 18.8 percent in Punjab and eight percent in Sindh, and rains would definitely enhance overall wheat production. Normal temperature and better water supply are added advantages to increase production of wheat," he said.
He, however, said that accurate estimates would only be possible after receiving data from provinces in the month of April. He pointed out that Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has also forecast a very good crop this year.
