The Lahore High Court on Friday ordered police to proceed in the case registered against the driver who came to rescue Raymond Davis after Mozang Chungi shooting incident and allegedly crushed Abad-ur-Rehman to death. The court also directed the police to record the statements of the complainant and eyewitnesses in the case.
Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry passed the order on a petition filed by Muhammad Ijaz-ur-Rehman, brother of deceased Abad-ur-Rehman, submitting that he was going to Jail Road from Mozang along with his brother Sajjad-ur-Rehman on a two-wheeler while Abad-ur-Rehman was following them on another motorcycle.
He submitted that when they reached near Jail Road bus stop, a land cruiser being driven by a foreigner while violating the one-way traffic, hit the motorcycle of Abad-ur-Rehman and killed him on the spot. He submitted that a case was registered on his complaint under section 302, 427 and 34 at police station Lytton Road on January 27. The petitioner submitted that he being a complainant in the case visited the police station for recording his statement and requested the arrest of the accused. He requested the court to issue directives to the SHO Lytton Road to record statements of the eyewitness immediately and take action against the accused.
