President Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jahangir and family of an alleged raped and burnt girl (17) accused Kahna police of favouring the accused by releasing them after taking money from them. Asma Jahangir condemning the incident said that tendency of incidents of violence against women in increasing day by day due to improper behaviour of the police and the government towards the victim.
She said police always favoured the accused in cases of women and forced the women to compromise with the accused. She said this practice encouraged the accused and becomes the main reason in increasing of such incidents. She said only legislation was not enough but to implement the laws is real service to the people. She said the poor people are the true nation and government must provide protection to them.
Samina while recording her statement on January 21 before special judicial magistrate Kanwar Anwar Ali, said that she used to work with her parents at a bricks kiln in Kahna. She said accused Ashraf also worked as driver at the kiln. She said on January 15 he passed derogatory remarks to her and on the same night he and two others other accomplices kidnapped her on gun point in the presence of her parents.
They took her to some undisclosed room where Ashraf twicely raped her. She said Anayat and Sahrif had overpowered her when she resisted against the attempts of Ashraf. She said as on the next day he tried to sexually harass her, she put resistance at which he threw acid at her face and body. She said on next day they took her to an office of a lawyers where they made her put thumb impressions on some pages and said now her parents could do nothing against them and let her go to parents.
