CNG stations: SNGPL will end two-day gas suspension after March 15

The Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) will end two-day suspension of gas to CNG stations across Punjab after March 15 as the gap between demand and supply is improving.
The SNGPL had to suspend gas supply to CNG stations for two days in a week due to a widening gap between demand and supply. However, gas pressure improved after an increase in temperatures and a decrease in use of gas heaters and geysers in the province, SNGPL GM (Sales) Rehan Nawaz said while talking to APP here on Sunday.
He said that Punjab province was receiving 1950 mmcfd gas while demand was 2142 mmcfd, however, 305 mmcfd gas was being supplied to a fertiliser company and three power plants in Sindh while the rest was being supplied to Punjab.
Giving details of gas demand, Rehan Nawaz said that gas demand of CNG stations was 213 mmcfd, domestic 809 mmcfd, general industry 640 mmcfd, power plants 262 mmcfd and fertiliser companies 135 mmcfd.
He said that Punjab was producing only 9 percent gas of total demand and receiving 91 percent gas from other provinces including Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
To a question, Rehan said that gas loadshedding would end by 2014 after the completion of the gas pipeline project from Iran. To another query, he said that domestic supply was the main focus of the company and for the purpose action was being taken against people who had installed compressors which affecting gas pressure.
