Swiss franc hits one-month low

Published Updated

The dollar rose to a one-month high versus the Swiss franc on Friday, buoyed by solid US economic data while the franc stayed pressured by weaker-than-expected Swiss inflation data. The dollar solidly outperformed other currencies the previous day after a fall in US jobless claims, with more gains foreseen against the euro on concerns that Europe is not adequately tackling its debt crisis.
The franc traded 0.1 percent lower against the dollar compared to the New York close, trading at 0.9705 per dollar after hitting 0.9715 francs earlier, its lowest since January 13. The franc ticked up against the euro 1.3152 per euro. The Swissie has slipped steadily so far this year from a record high hit against the euro at the end of 2010.
