US gold futures ended down on Thursday as the dollar rose after encouraging job data, with the metal remained lower even as Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak disappointed protesters who had been expecting him to step down. COMEX April gold futures settled down $3 at $1,362.50 an ounce on the COMEX division of the NYMEX.
GOLD: Ranged from $1,351.4 to $1,366.8 an ounce. Spot gold dropped 0.2 percent to $1,360.05 an ounce by 3:17 p.m. EST (2017 GMT). COMEX March silver ended down 18.2 cents at $30.094 an ounce, tracking gold. Ranged from $29.536 to $30.275. Spot silver slipped 0.3 percent to $30.08 an ounce.
NYMEX April platinum finished down $28.6 or 1.5 percent at $1,830.80 an ounce. Spot platinum dropped 1.8 percent to $1,820.75 an ounce. NYMEX March palladium closed down $5.55 at $820.90 an ounce, tracking platinum. Spot palladium lost 1.3 percent to $815.72.
