The second All Pakistan DHA Karachi Cup Open Golf Championship 2011 opened here on Thursday at the greens of Defence Authority Country and Golf Club. The one million prized coveted tournament is being held from 10 to 13 February 2011 in which a large number golfers from all over the country are participating. The tournament is open to all Associations/Golf Clubs affiliated with Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF).
Professionals registered with PGF, senior professionals of age 55 years and above juniors (under 16), masters (under 14), veterans and a large number of ladies are also participating in the tournament. A total of 400 golfers are expected to participate in the tournament which also include 100 professionals from all over the country. 200 golfers will participate in the main match. The celebrated national golfers Shabbir Iqbal and Matloob who have participated in South Asian racket are also playing the tournament.
The main match being played will be of stroke play over 54 holes. However the cut will take place after 36 holes for professionals and for amateurs it will be decided on number of entries.
The overall total prize money for the tournament is Rs 1 million, the senior professionals will be given a prize of Rs 100,000/- while Rs 900.000/- prizes will be given to professionals. In addition to this, many other attractive prizes will be given to different non-professional categories. Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan will be the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony scheduled to be held on 13th Feb' 2011 at Defence Authority Country and Golf Club.-PR
