Punjab government should take pragmatic measures to provide relief and retrieve agriculture land of poor farmers of Toor Waraich situated in Lahore cantt, grabbed by the influential people headed by former Member National Assembly, Major Habibullah Waraich (retired) and Moonis Elahi, son of former Chief Minister Punjab.
This was demanded by Muhammad Ayub Khan, President Muttahida Kisan Mahaz, Imran Chaudhry, President Anjumin Kashtkarian and Haji Mukthar Ahmad, President Kidaam Kisan Welfare Society in a joint press conference held here on Thursday. Addressing the press conference, they said that Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Punjab chapter, had registered a case against 11 accused, including National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) Chairman, Ayaz Khan Niazi and others in rupees 1.6 billion land purchase scam but some influential persons changed the record and are at large.
They alleged that Punjab revenue tempered the agriculture land record and altered names of real owners due to political pressure by influential personalities. They demanded Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif to take strict action against the culprits involved in changing the ownership rights of land, and a judicial commission should be established to correct the record.
