Gap between demand and supply of electricity has reduced to 400MW with improved generation through hydel, thermal and IPPs. Power generation remained 11269MW against a demand of 11666MW, putting the shortfall at 397MW in total. Power generation through hydel was 4879MW, followed by 1713MW through thermal, 4615MW through IPPs and 62MW through RPPs.
Supply to the KESC was 700MW during last 24 hours. The experts on power said the Pepco has overcome the load shedding phenomenon extensively with improvement in hydel generation. According to them, the load shedding duration both in urban and rural areas has reduced substantially. Soon new power plants are operational, further addition is expected on generation front, they added. These circles have also expressed the hope that power situation would remain stable during upcoming summer season.
