National Savings organisation is to become a corporation for which a three-member committee was working on the modus operandi to meet all the corporate requirements, said Director General National Savings, Sheikh M Zafar here on Thursday. While talking to media he said better schemes would be introduced for the people while the facilities for customers and salary structure of the employees would also be improved.
The DG hailed the overall performance of National Savings and claimed that schemes for pensioners were still better as compared to others offers in the market. Sheikh Zafar expressed his views that the staff should be increased, particularly at Azad Kashmir office where a single branch was doing business over Rs 18 billion. Only three employees were deputed at National Savings office there, he stated.
"It is pertinent to note that we are working with the same strength of staff as in 1984 across the country, while the number of customers has swelled to six million-ten times higher than the past", he explained. He said National Savings offered loans several times to the past governments to address financial crises over the years.
