Implementation of 10-point agenda: Nawaz expresses indignation over government slackness

Pressure seems to be mounting on the government, as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed indignation over government's slackness in implementation of the 10-point reforms agenda. Chairing a high-level consultative meeting of his party, he said that it appeared the government was unable to put things back on track despite the passage of two-third of the 45-day deadline.
However, he said the people would hear good news before the 45-day deadline. The optimism of PML-N Chief is seemed be incomprehensible as nothing meaningful has come out of the parleys yet. The meeting was also attended by party's senior leadership including Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Senator Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Khawaja Asif, Senator Ishaq Dar, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, Pervaiz Rashid, Abdul Qadir Baloch and others.
Nawaz Sharif said that the PML-N presented the best possible agenda in these testing times, but it seems that the government does not have the capability to put the things back on track. He also issued special directives to the PML-N's four-member committee headed by Ishaq Dar to persuade the government's committee in clear words in the next meeting to start implementation on the reforms agenda.
He said that the PML-N has fulfilled its obligation and now the government should also realise its responsibility so that the people of Pakistan should have a feeling of real democracy. He said that the 10-point proposals were not a personal agenda of the PML-N, but, he added that the party has highlighted the misdeeds of the government and removal of these flaws could provide foundation for good governance.
Earlier, the meeting was briefed by Ishaq Dar about the talks of the PML-N's committee with the government's team. Later, talking to 10-member delegation of the Air League, Nawaz Sharif said that the PML-N has forwarded its proposals to the government for making all the state-owned- institutions including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) profitable through efficient management. He said that the 10-point agenda clearly demanded of the government that it should ensure appointment of capable professionals in all the institutions to get better results.
