Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif went to Jamia Ashrafia here Sunday and expressed his condolence on the death of Maulana Abdul Rehman Ashrafi, Administrator of Jamia. Chief Minister also offered Fateha for the departed soul. Members Provincial Assembly Mian Hafiz Nauman and Dr Saeed Elahi were also present on this occasion.
Talking on this occasion, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that late Maulana Abdul Rehman Ashrafi was a great religious leader and he was held in great respect in the country and abroad. The Chief Minister said that he was deeply grieved over the death of Maulana Abdul Rehman Ashrafi. Late Maulana Abdul Rehman Ashrafi was a highly respectable personality of Millat-e-Islamia and a source of knowledge, he added.
He said that the efforts made by late Maulana Abdul Rehman Ashrafi for the promotion of Islamic teachings, Ittehad Bain-ul-Muslimeen, religious harmony and brotherhood would always be remembered. He said that the need for unity and mutual brotherhood of Millat-e-Islamia is more than ever now.
He said that by acting upon teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH), problems like poverty, injustice and inequality can be overcome. He said that Islam has given us the lesson of tolerance, love and equality and a peaceful society can be established by acting upon these golden principles.
He said that the Ulema should play their role for the promotion of religious harmony and creating an atmosphere of love and brotherhood in the society so that the religious hatred and sectarianism could be rooted out and the country could be made a haven of peace.
Earlier, talking on this occasion, Maulana Fazlur Rahim, brother of late Maulana Abdul Rehman Ashrafi said that the enemies of country and the nation are spreading sectarianism in the country and late Maulana Abdul Rehman Ashrafi made concrete efforts for the unity of Muslims.
He paid rich tributes to the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on his efforts for the promotion of Ittehad Bain-ul-Muslimeen, mutual love, brotherhood and tolerance and added that the Chief Minister has always served as a bridge between all schools of thought. He said that the Chief Minister united all sects and promoted brotherhood among them and today such efforts are also needed. He said that Shahbaz Sharif is a ray of hope in the present circumstances and we have high expectations of him.
