MPA blames provincial government for victimising his supporters

Newly elected MPA from Shangla, Mohammad Reshad Khan accused provincial government of victimising his supporters through police in his district. Mohammad Reshad Khan has been elected in bye-polls from PK-87, a provincial assembly constituency vacated due to the death of his father, Mohammad Zahir Shah, who was elected fourth time as legislator from his district.
In his maiden parliamentary speech, he first pledged that he would follow the suite of keeping the political atmosphere pleasant. He said that though making efforts for the success of candidate is the right of every political party. However, he said that the role played by police in the Shangla bye-poll was highly lamentable.
He said that the role of police was shameful and now he is victimising his supporters. He said that the District Police Officer (DPO) of Shangla is backing those involved in timber smuggling and also alleged irregularities in the recruitment of police. He demanded of the provincial government for taking action against alleged irregularities in the recruitment of the personnel of special police force. The newly elected legislator vowed that he was voice of the people of his constituency and would highlight the problems of the people on the floor of the house.
Provincial Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussein said that the beginning should have been made with a positive note. He said that the elections were held in peaceful environment. He said that they had accepted the result. Regarding the allegations of the newly elected legislator, Mian Iftikhar Hussein, who is also the official spokesman of the provincial government assured that the matter would be investigated saying that no one would be allowed to violate the rules. However, he stressed for the maintenance of the friendly environment in the house.
Earlier, Opposition Leader, Akram Khan Durrani congratulated Mohammad Reshad Khan. He said that the father of the newly elected legislator has served the people of the constituency, therefore, the constituents expressed confidence in him several times.
Sikandar Khan Sherpao said that late Zahir Shah was an active member of the house, saying the whole province has expressed grief and sorrow on his death. Mohammad Reshad Khan, he said was joint candidate of PML-Q and PPP-Sherpao and congratulated him on his own and on behalf of his party. He was hopeful that like his father, Reshad Khan would work for the welfare of people of Shangla.
