Justice Javed takes oath as acting CJP

Justice Javed Iqbal on Friday took oath as acting chief justice of Pakistan in absence of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry who left for India to participate in a conference. Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan administered oath to Justice Javed Iqbal, as acting chief justice of Pakistan.
Justice Iqbal will be acting chief Justice of Pakistan during this period when Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is abroad to attend 17th Commonwealth Law Conference in Hyderabad, India. Judges of Supreme Court, attorney-general of Pakistan, senior lawyers and officers of law and justice commission of Pakistan attended the ceremony. Dr Faqir Hussain, registrar Supreme Court, conducted the proceedings of oath taking ceremony.
