Tree plantation in Faisalabad: DCO for taking civil society, organisations on-board
Under 'Green Faisalabad Programme', the upcoming spring tree plantation campaign would be made result-oriented through social mobilisation in order to make the city beautiful and promoting pleasant environment. District Co-ordination Officer Faisalabad, Naseem Sadiq stated this while inspecting renovation and beautification work on different green belts along the city roads.
He informed that eight important city roads, linked with the bypass road, are being renovated by plantation and landscaping to create a good impact on the people entering the city. Regarding the spring tree plantation campaign, the DCO said it would be started with the concept as "one student one tree" for promoting forestation. He further said that the special task has been assigned to schools for planting ornamental and evergreen saplings on different green belts, intersections, triangle patches and other available spaces along the roads.
He added the schools and students would be responsible for nourishment and care of the planted saplings. He also said that canal rakh branch would be made exemplary with regard to beautification and tree plantation. He informed that besides rehabilitation and renovation of existing parks of Jinnah Garden, Kalim Shaheed Park, Canal Park, D Ground, Gatwala Parks, Himmatpura Fish Farm and recreational park, new parks are being established in joint venture of public-private partnership.
