Petition against appointment of UHS's director administration: LHC seeks report from Secretary Health, others

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought report from health secretary Punjab and others by February 15 in a petition challenging appointment of Colonel Javed Iqbal (retired), as director administration and co-ordination, University of Health Sciences (UHS).
The petitioner, Asmatullah Khan, has challenged the appointment being a citizen and taxpayer. His counsel Nasir Mehmood Qureshi pleaded that the respondent was appointed on May 20, 2003 as general manager administration and co-ordination on contract basis for a period of one year. The petitioner, therefore, prayed to the court to declare the impugned appointment without legal effect and the post of director Admin. & Co-ordination at UHS be declared vacant.
