US MIDDAY: corn, soya and wheat sag

Published Updated

Soyabean, corn and wheat futures on the Chicago Board of Trade sagged by midsession on Thursday as a resurgent dollar offset support from strong weekly US export sales figures, traders said. All three markets were hovering near recent long-term highs, prompting some traders to take profits. Earlier, wheat set a 29-month high on continuous price charts and soyabeans touched a 28-1/2 month high. Corn set a 30-month top on Wednesday.
The recent rise in world food prices, which hit a record high in January, could mean an era of food volatility and protests, the UN said in a report. CBOT trends as of 11:03 am CST (1703 GMT) on Thursday: March wheat down 3 cents at $8.60 per bushel. March corn down 2-1/4 cents at $6.67 per bushel. March soyabeans down 2-1/2 cents at $14.41-1/2 per bushel.
