Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi Thursday urged the parliamentarians to rise above personal gains for supporting the right stance and truth within the parties and before their leadership.
"We should have courage to take bold stand on righteousness before the leadership of all the mainstream national parties. We should not be tight-lipped on the wrong stance of our leadership. You should not be frightened from the leadership while the leaders should be frightened from you," Hashmi expressed these views on the floor of the National Assembly while pointing to the treasury and opposition members.
"Most of the property and business of the leadership is in other countries including London, Dubai, Saudi Arab and other parts of the world but we should know that those whose interests exist in Pakistan feel pain for the nation. I salute all the leaderships including Asif Ali Zaradri, Mian Nawaz Sharif, Asfandyar Wali, Maulana Fazlur Rehman but they should not use this nation for their own interests," he emphasised.
While pointing to the members, Hashmi said that the people of Pakistan were looking towards their elected representatives not their ministries or positions. Today our leaders say that the circumstances of Pakistan were different from countries like Egypt and Tunisia where people have come on the streets to bring change. "But I think that the conditions of our people are worse than the people of Egypt. Our leadership should observe the situation and learn from it. Today, there is no electricity, water, and gas for the people, even their lives are not secure in the country. Innocent people are being killed," he said.
The PML-N leader said that today Pakistan was facing economic pressure and instability but leaders could not find any solution to the problems. The government was not taking 10-point agenda of PML-N seriously while the MQM Chief Altaf Hussain had now presented the same points. They could utilise their resources for development and prosperity of Pakistan. In this regard, they were ready to support the government, he said.
Hashmi said that law and order situation in Pakistan was worsening with each passing day as they follow the dictate of America instead of taking decisions on our own. "We made Pakistan a subservient state. We should not bow before America. We have taken a lot from Pakistan but we did not give anything in return to the country. Time has come that we should sacrifice our lives and take lives of those who are out there to harm Pakistan," he said.
