Capital police arrest 19 criminals

Islamabad Police busted three gangs of car snatchers and dacoits and nabbed twelve members of the gangs, recovering a car, gold ornament worth Rs 8.3 million, two pistols 30-bore, ten bullets and a dagger from their possession. Islamabad Industrial Area Police have busted the inter-provincial gang of car snatchers and arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in snatching Rs 5.2 million from a person in sector I-8/2 on January 27, spokesman of Islamabad Police said on Thursday.
Five persons snatched a Honda Civic car from Najeeb Akhtar in sector I-8/2 on January 15 when he was waiting for his children outside his home. A case was registered at Industrial Area Police Station and a special team led by Sub-Inspector Abdul Sattar was constituted to chase the criminals and succeeded in arresting five persons, recovering the snatched vehicle from them.
The nabbed persons were identified as Kamran, Rizwan, Naqeeb Ullah, Usman and Abid Hussain resident of Abbottabad, police spokesman said. During the preliminary investigation, they confessed to commit several dacoities in Islamabad and Abbottabad. Further investigation is also underway.
Industrial Area Police also arrested four dacoits of a gang who looted Rs 5.2 million from Malik Abdul Rasheed son of Rehmat Ali on January 27 when he came out from bank and was on his way back to office, the spokesman said. Soon after the incident, Police cordoned off the area and ensured strict checking. A police team also chased the fleeing dacoits, criminals fired at police party. Police in retaliation also opened fire, consequently, one of the fleeing persons injured.
During police chase, they entered in a closed end street in Sabzi Mandi area and entered into a house after leaving the car. The owner of the house also offered resistance to dacoits over which they fled from there. Police said that they have succeeded to arrest four persons involved in this dacoity who are identified as Tariq, Junaid, Sadaqat, Nadeem alias Qaiser.
Raids are being conducted to arrest other main accused Shaukat alias Daler Khan and Shereen. Shalimar, Police arrested three gangsters including a person who was working as domestic servant in a house in sector E-11/3 and deprived his owner from gold ornaments worth Rs 8.3 million, along with his accomplices within four days after his induction.
Major Atta Ullah (Retd) resident of House No 732, Street No 44, Sector E-11/3 registered a complaint with Shalimar police station on January 27 that a person identified as Saeed who stolen the gold ornament and managed to escape from there. Following this complaint, DIG (Operations) Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam constituted special team, which succeeded in arresting three persons within a short time and recovered the gold ornaments, two 30 bore pistols, 10 rounds and dagger from their possession. The nabbed persons were identified as Zaheer alias Saeed son of Muhammad Akbar of Abbottabad, Shaukat Malik son of Khan-I-Zaman of Abbotabad, Arshad son of Muhammad Ashraf of Golra, Islamabad.
