The rupee ended up on Tuesday, snapping a two-day fall, buoyed by a recovery in the euro against the dollar and mild dollar inflows, even as losses in domestic shares weighed on sentiment. The partially convertible rupee ended at 45.7550/7650 per dollar, stronger than its 45.90/91 close on Monday, when it had touched 46.01, its lowest since November 30. It moved in a 45.7450-45.8700 band in the day.
The dollar index , a measure of the greenback's performance against six major currencies, was down 0.49 percent at 77.352 points around close of local forex market. One-month offshore non-deliverable forward contracts were quoted at 46.05, weaker than the onshore spot rate. In the currency futures market, the most traded near-month dollar-rupee contracts on the National Stock Exchange, MCX-SX and United Stock Exchange closed at 45.9800, 45.9825, 45.9800 each respectively. Total traded volume was $6.32 billion.
