The Karachi Port handled 283,711 tonnes of cargo including 172,164 tonnes of import cargo, 111,694 tonnes of export cargo, 5,552 loaded and empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 172,164 tonnes comprised of 83,042 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,556 tonnes of general cargo; 5,602 tonnes of rock phosphate and 81,817 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 111,694 tonnes comprised of 69,046 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,310 tonnes of general cargo; 18,538 tonnes of bulk cargo: 12,897 tonnes of wheat; 1,009 tonnes of rice; 2,632 tonnes of cement and 22,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Twelve ships namely Hanjin Rome, APL Chicago, Wan Hai-603, Kota Arif, OEL Trust, Silver Craft, MSC Peggy, Positano, Alpine Athelia, Panama Express, Defne Y and Oriental Marguerite with containers, general cargo, respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Thirteen vessels viz Glory River, MOL Success, Kota Arif, OEL Trust, Silver Craft, Hyundai Tacoma, MSC Peggy, APL Ruby, Panama Express, New Legand Fortune, Gora, MT Karachi and Stena Paris carrying containers, general cargo, rice and oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely Fatima, APL Ruby and MOL Success carrying cement and containers respectively expected to sail on Monday, while four ships namely Asashio Maru, Al-Wajba, Hyundai Tacoma and Etena Paris with containers, oil tanker, containers and naphtha respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Four vessels viz Loi Hope, Bunga Raya Satu, Abtin-1 and Nam carrying ethanol, containers and sulphur respectively due to arrive on Monday, while six vessels viz Quetta, CSL Ride, Alliance Charleston, Ratu Tembago, Iron Butterfly and Marianne Danica with crude oil, containers, car, steel, project cargo and dangerous goods respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
A total number of nine vessels viz CV Maersk Wyoming, CV MSC Anafi, MV Kimono-A, MT Alexi-1, MV Island Star, MV Suchada Naree, MV Trans Ocean, MT Chemtrans Mabuhay and Iron Monger-5 are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, wheat, sugar, chemicals and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Six ships namely Jang San, Akaki, ER-8 Reginamer, STX Rose, Chemroad Mega and Pago Fortune carrying rice, furnace oil, project cargo, edible oil and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz MT ER-8 Reginamer, CV Pago and MT Chemroad Mega are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
