All Pakistanis in Egypt safe: envoy

Pakistan's Ambassador to Egypt Seema Naqvi on Sunday said that all Pakistanis are safe and sound in Egypt. Seema Naqvi in a telephonic conversation with a private news channel said that Pakistanis in Egypt are safe and sound during the turmoil and the arrangements are being made to evacuate them from the country if needed.
Seema Naqvi said, there live about 150 Pakistani families in Egypt, mostly in Cairo and Alexandria. She told that she has requested to send a C-130 plane to Cairo to shift people. To a question she said security system in Egypt has badly affected due to protests. "We have already advised Pakistanis that they should live in groups especially during night to minimise the risk."
Besides, protest demonstrations, looting and plunder incidents are being reported for which precautionary measures have been advised to be adopted. She said the embassy is monitoring the situation and contacting the Pakistanis to ensure their safety. "I am constantly in contact with Foreign Office in Pakistan and I have requested regarding preparations so that in case of emergency Pakistanis could be evacuated," she added.
She further said that no Pakistani should come to Egypt in this condition.
Foreign Office Spokesman, Abdul Basit Sunday said that Pakistani citizens living in Egypt are safe. Due to critical conditions in Egypt, he said: "We have asked the people to remain present at homes and hotels for their safety."
In a brief telephonic talk with a private TV channel, Abdul Basit said that country's embassy is monitoring the situation and contacting the Pakistanis and embassies of other countries aiming to keep them abreast of the latest developments.
He said: "Our government's aim is to ensure security of our nationals living in Egypt."
