Government determined to control menace of price hike: minister

Federal Minister for Communication Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan has said that the government is working on a plan to control menace of price hike, unemployment and reduce poverty through promoting technical education in Pakistan.
Talking to a delegation here at his residence Sunday, he said, "We are well aware of peoples' problems and the government would address all problems before completing its tenure".
He said efforts to address price-hike, unemployment, illiteracy, poverty and hunger will continue and most of promises made by PPP with people were fulfilled, he added.
The government will provide all basic amenities of life to the masses at their doorsteps.
The Minister said PPP when came into power faced mounting challenges like law and order situation in Swat and Malakand, NFC award, Balochistan etc and addressed all major issues through reconciliation policy of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed amicably.
The government would complete it parliamentary tenure and would again form government due to its outstanding record and achievements at national and international level.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani are attaching great importance to development of communication sector keeping in view our prime geographical importance in region.
"A comprehensive and co-ordinated programme is being implemented for construction, extension and maintenance of national highway, motorways, expressways and roads throughout the country," he added.
He said the government is committed to promote agricultural, industrial sector and tourist industry by spreading a road network in the country that would ultimately pave the way to stabilise the national economy.
The Communication Minister said the government was endeavouring to complete all projects in communication sector within scheduled time as per world standard of construction.
He requested all sections of the society to come forward and help the flood victims regardless of their political loyalties, because we can only cope with natural calamities through concerted efforts.
The recent floods have been the worst ever in the country's history, which devastated more than seven lakh houses and one out of every ten persons has been affected.
The present government is utilising all its resources to rehabilitate the flood affected people, however, we have meagre resources, therefore, people needs to act immediately and help flood affectees, he added.
