Thousands of people, hundred of schools were lured to WWF-Pakistan and Indus Motor Company Travelling Nature Carnival 2011 on Sunday at the PAF Museum, Karachi. The Travelling Nature Carnival 2011 is supported by Indus Motors Company under the Toyota Environment Education Programme. Other contributing partners were Indus for All Programme of WWF-Pakistan.
The Federal Minister for Natural Resources, Naveed Qamar, who was chief guest, applauded school children for their state-of-the-art model display of environmental concerns of the country in various exhibits.
He said that "environment conservation is an effort, which all of us have to undertake together because we collectively hold the environment in trust for future generations and all of us must act as responsible guardians".
Parvez Ghias, CEO of Indus Motors Company, was the guest of honour. He said that the Indus Motor Company is very pleased to sponsor WWF-Nature Carnival 2011 under its 'Young Ambassador Environment Education Programme'. It has been a delightful and learning experience for IMC to be part of the Nature Carnival.
Raza Ansari, Director, Marketing Division, IMC, said that it is heartening and encouraging seeing how these young school students and teachers are engaged in environmental education to promote learning about critical environmental challenges of Pakistan. Environment is at forefront of all the IMC's production and IMC is looking forward to partner with WWF-Pakistan in future initiatives also.
Zia Mohyeddin was special guest at the Carnival. He applauded the efforts of the organisers and the school children in making the event entertaining and informative for the crowd. "It is extremely encouraging to see that how the integration of environmental education fosters civic sense and responsibilities in the minds of young's kids at a very early stage of their development," he said.
Among several interactive and informative activities the most unique and innovative was the 3D Display Model Competition by 120 Schools across Karachi. Hundreds of students gave live presentations to the judges and guests featuring themes including 'Say no to plastic bags', 'Animals and Plants of Wetlands', 'Impact of Air and Water Pollution Health', 'Industrial Waste and Air and Water Pollution', 'Threats to Blind Indus Dolphin, 'Global Warming and Climate Change', Organic Farming, Kitchen Gardening, Adopt a Tree, Solid Waste Management.
The winning students were presented with beautiful shields and certificates. Talking to media Anwar Nasim, Director, Corporate Relation, WWF-Pakistan, said that for past 10 years WWF-Pakistan's Travelling Nature carnival has attracted thousands of visitors and played a vital role in ensuring the future sustainability of environmental resources of Pakistan by bringing a positive change in the attitudes of society at large and helped to promote a more responsible and environmental conscious generation.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, Head of Corporate Relation, WWF-Pakistan, said that it is the only festival in the country that brings together students, parents, corporate sector, media, government organisations, conservation organisations and general public to promote learning about critical environmental challenges of Pakistan. WWF-Pakistan acknowledges the support of IMC for sponsoring the Nature Carnival 2011.
Indus Motor Company, Toyota awarded prizes for the environment games at its activity corners. IMC also hosted an environment quiz at its Sponsor Display Stall. IMC also sponsored all prizes for the Luck Dip at the Carnival 2011. Nestle Pakistan volunteered to give free water to the participants of the Nature Carnival 2011 and many other corporate partners distributed gift hampers.
WWF-Pakistan and Bridge Public Relations also signed an agreement to create awareness about environment related issue through media. Bridge Public Relations would work as official PR partner with WWF Pakistan.
