The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has appointed Muhammad Irshad as Legal Advisor for providing legal assistance for criminal prosecution, recoveries and legal action in the matters relating to Afghan transit cargo. In this regard, the FBR issued a notification on Saturday.
According to the notification, Muhammad Irshad, Legal Advisor, FBR, would provide assistance for criminal prosecution, recoveries and legal action wherever warranted in the issues relating to the matters of transit cargo.
Earlier, the Board had constituted a committee to probe and investigate matters relating to transit cargo. The committee, headed by Muhammad Anees, Member (Taxpayers Audit), FBR, includes Abdul Rashid, Project Director, Pakistan Customs Computerised System (PACCS), Karachi, Saeed Akram, Secretary, (Taxpayers Audit), FBR, and Muhammad Irfan Wahid, Second Secretary, Law and Procedure, FBR.
The committee shall conduct inquiries/investigations to determine the criminal prosecutions/departmental action (where applicable or warranted) and shall propose remedial measures. The committee may co-opt any officer to assist it, with the prior approval of FBR Chairman.
