Federal Minister for Environment, Hameedullah Jan Afridi has said that Pakistan is facing extreme crisis of environment pollution, which needs to be addressed on war footing. Young generation should play its revolutionary role to combat environmental problems being faced by the country, he said while taking to a delegation of students of environmental sciences who are participating in internship programme in the environment sector, here on Thursday.
Afridi said that clean environment is imperative for establishment of a healthy society. He termed deforestation as the major cause of increasing temperature and climate change affects, adding that glaciers are melting and sea level is increasing, which is dangerous for human life. He observed that social and economical sectors are directly linked with climate change impacts so it is a matter of deep concern, as healthy environment is essential for sustainable development.-PR
