Administrative Judge of Anti-Terrorism Courts Karachi, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah of Sindh High Court on Wednesday released due to lack of evidence nine suspects, who themselves surrendered in Sher Shah market, Karachi carnage case.
Nine suspects Mohammad Tufail, Abid Ali, Asghar Ali, Tehseen, Abdul Rasheed, Johar Sher Mohammad, Mohammad Aijaz, Mohammad Iqbal and Mohammad Akbar surrendered to police on January 12, 2011. According to police, as many as 13 people were killed and others injured on October 19, 2010 when armed fired at shopkeepers. Four suspects, Lal Mohammad Magsi, Shafi Mohammad, Aslam Pervez and Nawaz Ali were already arrested in this case. On Wednesday, police produced nine suspects.
Complainant Anees, who is also brother of one deceased shopkeeper, could not identify them though he had named them accused in FIR. Justice Sajjad Ali Shah ordered to release them U/S 497(2) CrPC due to lack of evidence.
