The Senior Member Board of Revenue has issued instructions to all government departments to stop acquisition of agricultural land for construction of buildings. He has issued these instructions through a letter addressed to all the administrative Secretaries, commissioners, District officers (Revenue and Estate)/Collectors in the province.
The letter says that acquisition of lands, which are generally used for growing vegetables and food grain is not desirable for construction works because such an action affects adversely the provincial economy. It further says that acquisition of agricultural land for industries near towns should also be avoided to prevent health hazards.
