Three workers die due to toxic gas

Some three workers on Wednesday were suffocated due to lethal gas in a water tank in the limits of Mehmoodabad police station. According to police, three workers died while cleaning 40ft long water tank of a house located in the Parsi Colony in the limits of Mehmoodabad police station.
They said the victim Akhtar, who was engaged by the contractor Hanif for this job, went down in the water tank with generator but after few minutes he inhaled lethal gas and yelled for rescue. Reacting on his request, two persons namely Zafar and a watchman Aamir, who were standing outside, went immediately into the water tank to rescue Akhtar but both also suffered the same fate.
They said the victim Akhtar died on the spot while rest of them lost their lives in hospital. They said the victims, who were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), were the residents of Landhi. In another incident, a bullet-riddled body was found at Paracha chowk near Malik hotel in the limits of Shersha police station. The body of a victim, who was identified as Ghulam Shabbir, 50, son of Ghulam Fareed, belonged to Dera Ghazi Khan. Police said the deceased received one bullet in his head and died on the spot. They claimed the victim, who was shifted to JPMC for legal formalities, was murdered due to personal enmity.
