Federal Revenue Alliance Employees Union has launched a campaign to highlight the corruption and mal practice in Tax Department. The campaign has been launched in the light of the directions issued by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, but the Union faced a strong resistance from the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Lahore officers on hanging banners inscribed with slogans against corruption.
FBR employees union displayed banners inscribed with slogans against corruption in all the Tax Offices at suitable places; said Secretary Information of the Union Arshad Qureshi. He said that the Union faced no resistance or hindrance in any of the tax office except RTO Lahore.
Immediately after the hanging of banners, the management showed its rude behaviour and AC Head Quarter II Aftab Alam come with the force to remove the banner, which was against the corruption and corrupt officers, he added. Aftab Alam removed the banner by force and had negotiations with the President Federal Revenue Alliance Mian Abdul Qayyum and others members of Federal Revenue Alliance. However, he refused permitting hanging of the banner even after the negotiation.
Executive Body of the Federal Revenue Alliance was called, soon after this incident, to look in to the matter. Speaking on this occasion President of the Union said it is the mala fide intention of the management, as they want to hide their corruption. He urged the government to look in the matter of Motor Vehicles placed at the disposal of RTO Lahore. Total number of Vehicles provided for Operational Purpose is more than 90 and no vehicle is used for operational purpose and all the vehicles are used by the officer above their entitlement.
A huge amount goes for the maintenance and fuelling of these vehicles which is hidden corruption. Moreover he added that AC Head Quartet-I Asim Ahmad is creating hindrances in the routine matters such as, promotion of the Staff and their other issues. He himself is using 3 vehicles, which is beyond his entitlement. It is official duty to park all the motors at office premises after office time but only 6 to 9 vehicles are parked in office premises. This could be even verified by visiting the office after office timing, he added. He said that we are with the Prime Minister in the fight against corruption. This corruption may be stopped immediately and necessary steps may be taken for illegal use of office vehicles.
