Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Tuesday that the weapon smuggling issue would be taken up with Afghanistan as illegally imported arms were being used in terror incidents here in the county. Talking with mediamen outside the Parliament House, he said: "terrorism cannot be countered in a more effective way until and unless smuggling of weapons from Afghanistan is not stopped."
The minister said Pakistan wants support from Afghanistan to eliminate terrorism from the region. Commenting on the prevailing situation in Karachi, he said the government was committed to restoring peace in the city.
