Indian Army Court orders court martial of Lieutenant General Rath

Indian Army continues to be hit by corruption scams one after the other, as yet another General of the world's otherwise 2nd largest army was found guilty of corruption. Indian Army Court on Friday ordered the court martial of one of its most senior army officers Lieutenant General PK Rath in the Sukna land scam.
Times of India reported that the Indian court was trying Lieutenant General Rath in the Sukna land scam and on Friday found the serving General of the Indian Army guilty. His court martial was ordered on three counts - firstly for providing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the construction of the building next to the Army headquarters in Sukna, secondly for signing a Memorandum of Understand (MoU) with the private builder and lastly for not informing the Eastern Command headquarters while the process was being carried on by him.
The Court of Inquiry (CoI) will now pronounce its sentence on Saturday (January 22). "Rath is now the first serving Lieutenant General to be convicted in a court martial." This verdict by the CoI will now have to be confirmed by the Army Chief and the Ministry of Defence. He also has the option of going to Court (either the Armed Forces Tribunal or the Supreme Court).
