4,000 KESC employees sacked: Jamaat-e-Islami submits adjournment motion in senate

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Thursday submitted adjournment motion in the senate's secretariat against the removal of around 4,000 employees by the management of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC). The adjournment motion was signed by three JI senators namely Professor Khurshid Ahmed, Professor Mohammad Ibrahim and Afia Zia.
The motion was submitted in the secretariat under clause 74 of rules and procedure of conduct of the senate, 1988. It demanded immediate restoration of the employees and urged chairman senate to allow the house to discuss the matter. They observed that the sacked employees also include those working for the company for last 25 years.
