The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) of Planning Commission will meet today (Friday) to approve 58 projects for various sector costing Rs 165.28 billion with Rs 33.89 billion foreign exchange component, it was learnt. Sources said that the CDWP meeting would be presided over by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Nadeem Ul Haq and co-chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan to consider about 30 development projects for Balochistan province.
Agriculture Food projects included provision of Fisheries Infrastructure on Balochistan Coast costing Rs 445 million, Poverty Alleviation through Enhancement of Agricultural Productivity (Progressive Replacement of 100 Bulldozers for Land Development Work in Balochistan) costing Rs 2112.530 million, Rs 1655.584 million for Promotion of Olive Cultivation for Economics Development and Poverty Alleviation (Modified PC-I).
Health related projects for Balochistan included construction of 50 Bedded Hospital at Pasni including cost of medical equipment Rs 235.824 million, Operationalization of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Federal Hospital (SKBZFH), Quetta (Revised) costing Rs 999.464 million.
Industries & Commerce related projects included: Bostan Industrial Estate Bostan Phase-I worth Rs 400.412 million, Expansion/ Improvement of Industrial Estate, Dera Murad Jamali amounting Rs 156.195 million, Provision of Infrastructure in Quetta Industrial & Trading Estate (Phase-II) worth Rs 174.250 million, Provision of Infrastructure in Quetta Industrial & Trading Estate Phase-IV costing Rs 126.930 million, Establishment of Mini Industrial Estate Khuzdar worth Rs 120.810 million, Establishment of Castor Oil Solvent Extraction Plant with Refinery to Convert the Commercial Grade Castor Oil to BSS Grade at Uthal District Lasbela costing Rs 300.00 million.
Transport & Communication related projects included: Construction of Expressway on East Bay of Gwadar Port worth Rs 6274.670 million, Construction of Black Top Road Lehri to Sangsilla amounting to Rs 841.480 million, Construction of Bridge Qamar Din/ Sur Kach Balochistan on Zhob River at District Zhob costing Rs 180.00 million, Rehabilitation of Pansi Fish Harbour worth Rs 800.00 million, Improvement of Sui Dera Bugti Road and Construction of Various Black Top Link roads at Dera Bugti and Sui District Dera Bugti worth Rs 641.892 million, improvement/widening of Roads of Sui and Dera Bugti Town costing Rs 104.292 million, Construction/Improvement of Road from Dasht to Mastung via Kandh Masoory (Revised) District Mastung Length 32 km amounting to Rs 375.967 million, Construction of Tubli Badini Road Balochistan costing Rs 789.6061 million, Construction of Black Top Road from Dera Murad Jamali to Manjhoo Shori worth Rs 262.939 million, Construction of Block Top Road, Drain & luff Tiles Street at Different Union Councils of Quetta City (24 Development Schemes in Quetta, Balochistan) worth Rs 120.00 million.
Water Resources related projects for Balochistan are: Construction of Kanj Irrigation Scheme in Mawand Area District Kohlu worth Rs 16.437 million, Extension Pat Feeder Canal for Utilisation of Indus Water in Balochistan as per Water Accord, 1991 costing Rs 5769.867 million, Construction of 100 Delay Action Dams in Balochistan, Package-I (20 dams) Revised PC-I costing Rs 2467.714 million, Construction of Flood Protection Schemes in Qilla Saifullah District worth Rs 170.000 million, Provision of Groundwater for Development of Industrial Sector in the Province of Balochistan costing Rs 996.021 million.
Physical Planning & Housing projects for Balochistan are: Water supply scheme for Hub Industrial Trading Estate Phase-II (Extension) worth Rs 270.460 million, Establishment of Intake and Brine Disposal System/ Civil Works for Desalination Plant at (I) Jiwani (ii) Pansi and (iii) Gaddani worth Rs 314.478 million, Supply, Installation and Operation of MGD Water Desalination Plant for Gwadar Industrial Estate Gwadar, Balochistan (Revised) costing Rs 984.590 million and environment projects are Purchase, installation and commissioning of water purification plants in Flood affected areas of Balochistan worth Rs 193.000 million. Higher Education related projects for Balochistan province to be considered by CDWP are Establishment of University of Loralai costing Rs 1493.751 million (local)/ Rs 197.560 million foreign exchange component, Establishment of University of Turbat Rs 1555.391 million (local)/Rs 197.60 million foreign exchange component.
Other Projects included: Makhi Farash Link Canal Project (Chotiari Phase-II) including Feasibility Study (Thar Coal); 27000.00, Construction of Six (06) Gravity Weirs/ Small Dams in Upper and Central Kohistan; 717.682, Construction of Seven (07) Gravity Weirs/Small Dams in Lower Kohistan; 993.692; Rehabilitation and Extension of Four (04) Nos. Irrigation Bunds in Nagarparkar.
Transport & Communication: Rehabilitation of NHA Highways Network damaged due to Unprecedented Monsoon Rain & Floods 2010; Rs 23.60 (billion), Construction of 2-lane Bridge over River Indus at Khushal Garh, District Kohat and Its Approach Roads; Rs 1719.900 million, Up-gradation and Widening of Arja - Tain'- Dhalkot Road; Rs 755.226 million, Construction of Rathoa - Haryam Bridge and its Approaches Across Reservoir Channel on Mirpur -Islamgarh Road; Rs 3775.540 million, Widening and Reconditioning of Badin Tando Bago Thudo Road and others.
Culture sports projects included: Construction of sports complex at Mardan costing Rs 76.608 million.
Information Technology: Communication system for Coastal Management of Arabian Sea in Pakistan. (JICA Grant); Rs 2364.000/ 2344.000 million.
Industries and Commerce: Establishment of Design institute specially for energy sector plants by upgrading existing design centre at Heavy Mechanical Complex, Taxila and Establishment of Turbines and power plants equipment manufacturing facility at Heavy Mechanical Complex, Taxila.
Japanese Assisted Rural Roads Construction Project/ KP Emergency Rural Road Rehabilitation Project, Kala Daka Area Development Project (Phase-Il) (US Funding), Southern Punjab Poverty Alleviation Project (IFAD funding) Const./ Re-Construction of existing School Building Project FATA, and FATA Rural Development Project.
Physical Planning & Housing: Up-gradation/ Strengthening of Cabinet Division 6 Aviation Squadron for relief operation and Enhancement of Security; Establishment of Taxpayer's Facilitation Centers (TFCs) and construction of Transit Accommodation with RTO and LTU Islamabad, Acquisition of Land for Construction Islamabad High Court, Islamabad, Governance Project Management Unit (FBR); 192.917 HEALTH Const. of type "D" hospital at Masti Khel FR Lakki costing Rs 145.151 million.
