The Swiss franc pushed higher against the euro and the dollar on Tuesday as traders awaited a meeting of European Union finance ministers later in the day for clues to whether they will beef up a eurozone safety fund. Traders in the euro-franc took profits following a strong rise in the single currency last week. Yet after consolidating gains, the euro could resume its move higher against major currencies, they said.
The franc rose 0.3 percent against the euro compared to the New York close, trading at 1.2784 francs per euro. The franc was 0.8 percent higher against the dollar at 0.957 francs per dollar.
