Punjab government on Monday decided to provide wheat to exporters on the agreed prices to facilitate them in exporting the commodity. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held here on Monday with Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa in the chair. The meeting expressed satisfaction over the present position of wheat crop and observed that recent rains made a positive impact on the crop.
Addressing the meeting, Khosa directed food department authorities to formulate a transparent system of wheat procurement and its export so that the interests of farmers could be safeguarded. He also said that food department should purchase plastic and jute bags for storage of wheat keeping in view the environment and temperature level in different parts of the province.
