Islamabad Police fail to curb crimes: 102 outlaws including 15 women held

Though Islamabad Police succeeded in avoiding terrorist attacks during the year 2010, they failed to curb the street crime in the city, as 115 cases of street crimes, including cheating, theft, robberies and purse snatching were reported in this week.
During these incidents of street crime people were deprived of their valuables, including cars, motorcycles, cash, golden ornaments, watches and cell-phones of over worth Rs 75 million.
According to the data collected by this scribe from 14 police stations, 102 outlaws including 15 women were arrested by Police for their alleged involvement in street crimes, bootlegging, drug pushing, dacoities, car snatching, robberies and other crimes etc.
Police held 21 persons for possessing illegal weapons and recovered one Klashnikove rifle, three repeater guns, one 12-bore gun, 15 pistols (30-bore and 32-bore), three dagger and 750 rounds from them. The police have nabbed 21 persons for bootlegging and drug trafficking and recovered 3kg heroin, 7.5kg charas and 350 bottles of liqueur from them. During the week 13 vehicles including Mehran, Suzuki Margalla, Suzuki pick up, Toyota Corolla, Suzuki Van, while five motorcycles were lifted by car thieves.
