Loot and plunder will have to be eliminated: chief minister Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that we will have to save each and every penny for equipping the new generation with latest knowledge for rooting out extremism and terrorism from the country. He said that even today we should make sincere efforts for elimination of ignorance then the failures of the last 63 years could be overcome.
He said that setting up of Daanish Schools in remote and backward areas of the province is an important step towards realising the dream of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. Had a dacoity of 50 billion rupees not been committed in the Bank of Punjab in the past, the resources were not looted ruthlessly in the name of Lahore-Kasur Road, Ring Road and other development projects, then all these resources would have been spent in the establishment of Daanish Schools and welfare of the people of the province, he added.
He said that the loot and plunder will have to be eliminated for regaining the lost glory of Pakistan and making it a true Islamic welfare state in accordance with the ideals of founders of the country. He said that judicious distribution of resources will have to be ensured and we will have to march forward for making hard work, honesty and sincerity our motto.
He was addressing a function regarding founding day of Pakistan Muslim League arranged by Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust at Aiwan-e-Karkunane Tehrik-e-Pakistan, here Saturday. Chairman Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust Majid Nizami, Vice Chairman Dr Rafique Ahmad, former Foreign Minister Sartaj Aziz, PML Leader Begum Majida Wayne, Waleed Iqbal, Members National and Provincial Assemblies and a large number of PML workers attended the function.
Addressing the function, the Chief Minister said that the Muslims of subcontinent launched a movement for creating a separate homeland under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam and flag of Pakistan Muslim League and rendered sacrifices but after the lapse of 63 years, we have failed to make Pakistan in accordance with the ideals of the founders of the country.
He said that democratic governments were set up in Pakistan but the dictators toppled these governments. They hoodwinked the people and practically did nothing for them, he added. He said that someone set up dictatorship in the name of Islam and the others toppled the democratic governments for looting the resources, but failed to run the country in accordance with the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
He said that the elders and youth rendered sacrifices for establishment of Pakistan to live their lives according to law and constitution and equal opportunities be available, there should be supremacy of law, everyone has equal rights without any discrimination of caste, colour, creed and religion, and be called a Pakistani under the constitution. But today, elites have all facilities whereas the poor are deprived of basic facilities, he added. He said that all medical facilities are provided to the rich people in hospitals but the poor have to face problems in hospitals even for getting medicines. He said that the history of the world is full of such incidents where the defeated nations made progress by making hard work their motto. He said that it is lamentable that Pakistan despite being atomic power, we are still forced to depend upon foreign aids and compromise our freedom and sovereignty against very little amount.
He said that we are forced to carry out such tasks on foreign dictation as have no concern with the teachings and philosophy of Qura'an and Sunnah, Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal and the sacrifices of martyrs of Pakistan movement. He said that loans worth billion of rupees were obtained during the last 63 years but the destiny of the country could not be changed.
He dilated that the loans of billion of rupees were got written off on political grounds but those who got written off these loans are still the owners of factories and bungalows but the poor and the workers are deprived of even the basic necessities.
He said that this cannot be called the Pakistan of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal where news about taking commission by the President on purchase of Agosta submarine are published and Hujjaj were looted. He said that new worlds are created through new trends, new approach, hard work and honesty and we will regain lost glory of Pakistan by acting upon these golden principles and will make it an Islamic welfare state in true sense in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
He said that he agreed to the proposals of Majid Nizami with regard to unification of Pakistan Muslim League, however, those who supported the dictatorship during last ten years will have to seek pardon from the nation and will have to return the looted money.
Addressing the function, Chairman Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust and renowned journalist Majid Nizami said that Pakistan Muslim League is the founder party of the country and it will also make the country strong and stable. He said that India is our enemy and we should always be beware of it. He said that it is unfortunate for Pakistan and Muslim League that Pervez Musharraf has also set up a separate Muslim League and he is trying to return to country. He said that Muslim League had established Pakistan and this party would safeguard the country. He asked the Chief Minister Punjab to play his role for unification of Muslim Leagues. Vice Chairman Nazria Pakistan Trust Dr Rafique Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
