A high-level meeting held at the Governor House here on Saturday reviewed the present situation. Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan presided over the meeting. The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Senior Sindh Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, and leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) under the leadership of Dr Farooq Sattar.
The meeting expressed sorrow over the killing of innocent people in various parts of Karachi. It was stressed at the meeting to take steps with the co-operation of the people to frustrate the machinations of anti-peace and anti-social elements. The Interior Minister assured full co-operation of the federal government in this regard.
The participants offered Fateha for those, who had been killed in recent incidents. The MQM leaders said that there were elements who were conspiring to mar peace in the city and pit peaceful people against each other and thus try to harm the integrity of the country.
