Khurram Shahzad and Rana Naseer Ahmed have earned the honour of becoming FIFA Referee for the year 2011. Khurram is the new entrant in the international refereeing list after occupying National Referees badge from 2006-10. He supervised the tense Karachi Energy-Quetta Zorawar final at the Peoples Sports Complex on 31 July 2010, and was later voted " Best SFL Referee."
He was also Best Referee in National U14 Championship at Lahore 2007 and Inter Club Women Championship a year later at Islamabad. Khurram joined Rana Naseer Ahmed (Faisalabad), as one of the two referees from Pakistan for FIFA list 2011. Apart from this, five Assistant Referees namely Waheed Murad, Shafaat Habib, Shahid Hussain, Muhammad Ali Jr., and Rana Jehanzeb Tipu are also in FIFA panel.
PFF Chief said: "Football is a global sport and its rules must be interpreted and applied with absolute consistency wherever the game is played. FIFA, therefore, has a policy of ongoing training for its referees to ensure that refereeing standards continue to improve and the Laws of the Game are applied the same way everywhere."
