Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Wasim Sajjad during a meeting with six members Sri Lankan Parliamentary Delegation led by Chamal Rajapaksa, Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament observed that Pakistan is proud of its relationship with Sri Lanka and expressed the hope that co-operation between the two countries would be increased further for the mutual benefit of the people.
Senator Sajjad said that Pakistan values its ties with Sri Lanka adding that potential exists for enhancing trade and economic ties and both countries should open up new avenues of co-operation. He also underscored the need for encouraging people to people contacts and Parliamentary exchanges to learn from each other's experiences.
He appreciated the success of the Sri Lankan government in wining war against terror. He also apprised the delegation about the working and performance of the Upper House of the Parliament and its role in the legislation and policy making.-PR
