A 25-year-old Palestinian was killed on Tuesday in an Israeli air strike near the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis, Palestinian medical sources said. Adham Abu Selmiya, spokesman for the Hamas-run health services in the Gaza Strip, named the man as Mohammed Jamil al-Najar and sources in Khan Yunis told AFP that Najar belonged to the al Quds Brigade, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad militant group.
The Israeli military had no immediate comment, but Najar appeared to have been deliberately targeted.
