At a recent pre-event press conference, it was disclosed that English Biscuit Manufacturers Pvt Limited (EBM) and United Registrar of Systems (URS) will host the ninth international Safe Food Conference 2011 on January 18, 2011 at Regent Plaza Hotel in Karachi.
The theme of this year's Safe Food Conference will be "Enhancing Food Safety at the Retail Level". The conference will aim to raise greater awareness of food safety issues amongst all stakeholders, consumers, manufacturers, academia, regulators, retailers and distributors of food products.
The conference will bring together leaders from the food industry to address on how investment in food safety management systems and emphasis on incorporating technology, innovation and safety measures can serve to increase overall food safety awareness and implementation.
This year's conference will aim to meet the following objectives: identify and communicate best practices in retail food safety, assist stakeholders set priorities and allocate resources in retail food safety, encourage Pakistan's regulators to adopt a more holistic risk based programme for enforcing food safety in the retail sector, build capacity and resource base of retail associations and their members with respect to food safety, encourage consumer associations to develop a scientific approach towards highlighting food safety malpractice.
