The Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh, Sarfraz Rajar has said that the introduction of merit in recruitment of the teachers in education department was achievement of PPP and its commitment to improve standard of education and added that it would bring revolutionary change in the field of education and other sectors of development as well.
This he observed while addressing academic and culture show organised by an NGO Sindh Friends Forum at Mumtaz Mirza Auditorium, Sindh Museum Hyderabad last night as Chief Guest. The event was attended by large number of academic fraternity, intellectuals, government servants and elite citizen.
Addressing the ceremony, Sarfraz Rajar said that the education was only source of development, prosperity and progress of any nation. He said that unfortunately previous rulers under their conspiracy had deteriorated the educational system by planting illiterate teachers, inefficient management and also encouraged copy culture to destabilise educational system in Sindh province, in addition to that thousands schools were made closed and converted into Autaq (guest houses). He said that now it was the PPP government which has not only re-opened the closed schools in thousands number but also is recruiting teachers through competitive examination under third party validity system to ensure merit and standard of education. Besides, incentives to the teachers and students have also been provided to ensure good enrolment, attendance and quality education.
Sarfraz Rajar, who was also the Chairman of PPP Culture Wing of Sindh Chapter, said that PPP government has also undertaken matchless steps for the promotion of culture. He said that during the PPP government the grant to Sindhi Language Authority has been increased more than 100% and the management of many cultural & historical sites fallen in the province has been devolved from Central to Provincial government. He said that Sindh possess rich cultural heritage and has potential to be unique in the world. He said that we are proud of our culture heritage and vowed that PPP government especially culture department would undertake all efforts to promote it in the whole world. Lauding the services rendered by the host organisation, Rajar said that such type programmes were not depicting our culture heritage among the new generation specially residing in urban areas but opening new avenues for the artists of Sindh for their encouragement.
The Chairman Institute of Modern Science & Arts (IMSA) Hyderabad Shafiq Mousvi in his speech said that world has been converted into a global village where competition in academic field has been reached up to the world level as such each individual and organisation has to work hard to meet the needs of the era. He said that this is era of modern science and who so ever remained behind in this race would be looser. He said that we shall concentrate on the scientific know-how and other developments being made in the world and must educate and trained our youths at par of such developments. He said that this country posses good potential which is revealed from the fact that there were many dignitaries belonging to Pakistan but performing at the high level in the prestigious institutions of world.
The Provincial Co-ordinator Hepatitis Control Programme Dr Abdul Majeed Chutto in his address said that the literate segment of society such as education and medical fraternity can play vital role in creating awareness among the masses for undertaking precautionary / preventive measures to save themselves from the fatal diseases of Hepatitis B and C. He said that education was the key of success in each field.
The host of event Nizam Abbasi in his welcome address said that his NGO is working for up-gradation of educational system and encouragement to the students and teachers as well. He said that an endowment fund has been created by his NGO with the support of philanthropists and announced that scholarships to 100 students studying from class one to ten would be provided this year. Earlier, the debate competition among the students of SSC level was held in which many schools of Qasimabad and City participated. The participating schools' children also presented tableaus, songs and dances to depict cultural activities in the programme.
