Major General Ather Abbas, Director General (DG) Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday underlined the need for 'de-radicalisation' of those who had been misguided by miscreants and were being forced to carry on their agenda. He urged the civil society to come up for an active along with the armed forces of the country to fight this menace of terrorism.
He was talking on the occasion of second curtain raiser ceremony for "Faseel-e-Jaan Se Aagay," a drama series jointly produced by ISPR and CRS, which was held here on Monday. While giving a detailed account of the circumstances that led the government to launch military operation in Swat, he said there are still such elements who are the cause of confusion in the society as they claim dialogue, a peaceful way of resolving any issue. Military operation is not the only solution, it is merely part of a strategy. After the successful military operation in Swat the day is not far when complete control would be given to civil administration, he added.
The DG said that prior to launching military operation. the government did try and negotiations were held with the terrorist for a peaceful solution, however it did not work and military operation was the only last option since their brutal activities were increasing with every passing day. The Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira presided over the august function.
He said the ongoing war is a war of ideology. Pakistani nation needed a social dialogue to win this war as it has extended in every corner of the country. The minister said victory in Swat over extremists was a dream of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He expressed her this desire in her last public address. Pakistan armed forces fulfilled this dream.
A large number of people attended the inauguration ceremony. The drama series is based on 11 true stories of courageous Pakistanis who gave tough resistance to terrorists with their resilience and sacrifices. The drama series will be televised by PTV Home every Friday at 7:40pm from January 14, 2011.
The drama series "Faseel-e-Jaan Se Aagay" is aimed at depicting the courage of Pakistani people and armed forces that they exhibited during the operation against terrorists and militants in Mingora region. The drama series is an epic journey in the lives of common people, jawans and officers of Pakistan Army who despite all odds stood by their conviction and showed firm resolve to weed out terrorism and rendered invaluable sacrifices in the line of duty. The series will unveil the real face of terrorists and militants that have bee exploiting the downtrodden in the name of religion.
